Chicken outside of Revolution

What can be more beautiful than perfectly seasoned and cooked chicken? My friend joked that Revolution’s chicken was so high quality that it tasted like it actually had a different protein structure from your standard chicken. I sort of laughed, paused, and thought, “it kind of does?!”

In the unending conquest to try (almost) every restaurant and bar in the city, I’m always chasing that next high: the next exotic taste, the coolest bar concept, a bizarre take on an old favorite that takes things to the next level. What if the next exotic, crazy, most avante garde restaurant was just really, really, really good chicken? I think it’s Revolution.

Given, I am a bit biased on this review: I came in during the 4 year anniversary celebration to the tune of $4 Mules (they have offerings from London Gin & Cucumber to Moscow to Tequila). Add to that that I am a sucker for cool architecture (the façade has cool gothic throw-back terra cotta reliefs and inside a cool mosaic floor). They’re also super gluten friendly. How can you improve upon Revolution? Spoiler: you can’t. It’s the best chicken in Cincinnati.

REVOLUTION ROTISSERIE: WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND

The wheel is turning in Cincinnati neighborhoods. A few blocks on a main street were the center of communities before they emptied out in favor of strip malls and shopping centers. Now they’re coming back again. Restaurants are a central part of this new turn of events. In Pleasant Ridge, several new bars, food shops and eateries are bringing life to the blocks of Montgomery Road near Ridge. The aptly-named Revolution Rotisserie is the latest new eating place to open, on the corner of Losantiville and Montgomery. The “revolution” in the name isn’t actually about civic rejuvenation but refers to the rotisserie method they use to roast chickens. That inspired the “revolutionary” names of many of their dishes, like Patrick Henry and Marie Curie and Nelson Mandela.

REVOLUTION ROTISSERIE ANNOUNCES PLEASANT RIDGE LOCATION OPENING DATE

“Honestly, we’ve been shocked with the amount of positive feedback from Pleasant Ridge,” said Kathy O’Connell of Revolution Rotisserie, the Over-the-Rhine restaurant that is opening a second location at the corner of Losantiville Avenue and Montgomery Road. “It’s been fun to watch how excited people are about it.”They have now settled on an opening date of January 19. For their second location, Revolution Rotisserie is taking over the space that had been Emanu African restaurant. They’ll serve American comfort food, to eat in or to go, along with a full bar.

REVOLUTION ROTISSERIE EXPANDS INTO PLEASANT RIDGE

Revolution Rotisserie & Bar has come far since its early days as a chicken-and-pita-sandwich pop-up in Findlay Market. After expanding into a full restaurant on Race Street in 2015, Revolution is extending its reach with a second location in Pleasant Ridge. Revolution will replace what was formerly Emanu East African Restaurant at 6063 Montgomery Road. “We are just incredibly excited about the community (in Pleasant Ridge),” says co-owner Nick Pesola. “It’s very engaged with their restaurants. There’s a nice balance of urban-suburban authenticity to it.”

THESE GREATER CINCINNATI EATERIES KNOW TATER TOTS AREN’T JUST FOR KIDS

Every Friday through the end of Lent, chicken restaurant Revolution Rotisserie is serving fried fish with a side of tots at its Pleasant Ridge location. Revolution Rotisserie already includes tots in its poutine — tots, chicken, semi-melted cheese curds and gravy — and as a side basket; this is yet another option.

The whole crew from Revolution Rotisserie did an outstanding job catering our wedding! They were extremely conscious of our guests needs and even our budget.

Our friends and family LOVED the food, they loved that there were amazing vegetarian options and the staff was extremely welcoming and helpful with guiding everyone through the buffet.

Not to mention being able to support a local small business was a great feeling and meant so much to us and our family.
We would highly recommend hiring Revolution Rotisserie for any of your catering needs!”
